And that’s how it all began: In the thirties, the Hungarian-born Etienne AIGNER celebrated his first success as a bag designer at Paris Haute Couture shows. In the fifties, the presentation of his own collection in New York followed – for the first time carrying the typical “A” in horseshoe shape. This was the beginning of a success story that is still bearing fruit today.
From New York, his way led to Munich, where AIGNER became a cult brand in the 1960s and 1970s. Quickly, the horseshoe became no longer just an ornament, but an expression of lifestyle and freedom.

In 1975 the entry into the cosmetics market started with the scent Etienne AIGNER no. 1.
AIGNER has maintained the claim to create classics for decades. In the 1980s, AIGNER broadened its product range by licensing watches, jewelry and eyewear. 1990, women’s and men’s fashion collections followed.
In 2000, Etienne AIGNER died in New York at the age of 96. But the success story of the company AIGNER continues…
In 2003, AIGNER celebrated a spectacular debut at the Milan fashion shows. The relaunch of the brand architecture of AIGNER was a big success.
In 2005, AIGNER opened more than 25 new shops, expanded in the Middle and Far East and launched a highly effective quality offensive in the leather sector.
