About Founded in Potsdam in 2003, the WUNDERKIND label was conceived and developed by Wolfgang Joop and his partner Edwin Lemberg. WUNDERKIND is an entirely unique house embodying a new German sensibility and avant-garde spirit. It was conceived in the school of the classic couture salons and ateliers. WUNDERKIND is at home in the Villa Rumpf, the company headquarters, a turn of the century, red brick villa commissioned by Fritz Rumpf and designed by Gustav Meyer in the Dutch neo-baroque style, built in 1896. WUNDERKIND opened offices with a showroom in Milan and a commercial office in London in 2006. Wolfgang Joop, Creative Director, founded WUNDERKIND based on his passion for individuality, style, demand for creativity, authenticity and quality. Wolfgang Joop first presented the WUNDERKIND collection to an international audience during New York Fashion Week in September 2004 and showed in NY for three consecutive seasons. WUNDERKIND premiered in Paris with the Spring / Summer 2007 collection upon invitation by the Chambre Syndicale and as part of the WUNDERKIND global positioning strategy in October, 2006.
WUNDERKIND is Wolfgang Joop’s personal vision for the contemporary, sophisticated and independent woman. It is an intimate, emotional and expressive realization of Wolfgang Joop’s taste, which explores the contradictions and dualities inherent in each woman. The signature style is defined by a subtle play between structured, tailored, masculine pieces and soft, fluid, feminine shapes in sensual, luxurious fabrics, which are treated with unexpected and innovative techniques. The line focuses on the highest level of craftsmanship and pays careful attention to detail.
The collection is produced in its entirety in Italy by Roscini, a highly respected women’s wear producer, specializing in technical excellence and craftsmanship. Roscini also produces selected parts for Bottega Veneta, Donna Karan Black Label, Hèrmes, Loewe, Loro Piana, Tom Ford and Valentino collections amongst others; a guarantee of sophistication and technical precision. The house of WUNDERKIND is offering their worldwide clientele a sophisticated range of luxury Prêt-à-Porter collection and accessories. Besides this the company is selling a limited number of crystal tumbler in cooperation with Theresienthal, a limited porcelain service in cooperation with the Meissen porcelain manufacturer and scented candles in cooperation with Los Angeles based company D.L. & Co. exclusively in company owned stores.
